Annual Ritual

The Navaratri Festival is celebrated in South India over nine days. The first three days are devoted to the worship of the Goddess Durga; the middle three, Goddess Lakshmi; and the final three, Goddess Saraswathi. During the festival, Hindus clean and decorate certain belongings, particularly the items they use in business.
